Good point, and I recommended to the OpenCD maintainer that he should include portable apps, but he explained it duplicated alot of the existing stuff, andthe CD image realestate was in short supply. Plus making it so easy to just jank the USB drive and take the software away has a downside. Only the owner of the USB key will be able to use the FOSS. If it just gets installed everywhere, then even people who haven't heard of it will end up seeing it and using it.

For Windows FOSS, check out the Open CD. http://www.theopencd.org/ CRAP, their project died! And I even donated! Looks like The OpenDisc is the chosen successor. http://theopendisc.com/ Maybe they're hinting at moving towards a DVD-sized release?
http://portableapps.com also features a load of FOSS. It has the benefit of being self contained, so users can take the suite with them to any USB enabled Windows PC and enjoy life a bit. (can't do much about spyware and viruses...)
