Integrated WiFi 802.11b/g and integrated 10/100. Based on reviews I have read, applications that are preinstalled seem to make setting up the WiFi and Wired NIC's a breeze. The System comes with a CD that includes the manuals and the WinXP drivers, should you want to put XP on it. The System board uses the Intel ICF-9/915 system board chipset and video. The unit has a modem port, but it was plugged with a rubber cover indicating that a modem may be an add-on option or comes standard on a latter model using same case to save manufacturing costs. I have read several independent reviews and it appears that the WiFi seems to pick up AP's at greater ranges than most other laptops, but this only what I have read from the reviews. Battery life is about 3 hours, and the Screen, while small, is remarkably bright and clear, however the resolution is only 800x480 so some websites may require scrolling left to right; Again from reviews I have read.

The specs are a little confusing as I find different/conflicting information, but as best as I can tell, this is what the Eee PC has:

Processor: Intel Celeron-M 900 MHz
RAM: 512MB DDR2 500mhz (Unofficially Upgradeable by hack to 2GB voiding warranty of course)
Mass(??) Storage: 4GB Solid State Disk (I believe can also be upgraded to 8+ GB)
OS: Customized Xandros Linux but is compatible with WinXP
Display: 7" Passive matrix TFT Backlit Display with resolution of 800x480
Network: Integrated 10/100 (Suspect this to be an Intel adapter) and Integrated Wireless 802.11b/g (Suspect this to be an Intel adapter as well)
Ports: 3 - USB 2.0 ports, 1 - Mic/line in, 1 - Speaker/headphone out, Power adapter port, and 1 - SD/MMC card reader port.
Additional features: Integrated speakers left and right of the display, Web cam centered above display, integrated mic "mounted on bottom of laptop"
Battery: 4 Cell battery 5200 mAh, Lithium-Ion with approx 3.5hrs between charges
Weight: About 2 lbs

Please note that the information listed above comes from several sources including ASUS and independent reviewers and as such may contain errors.

My opinion is that if you are seriously interested in this laptop, I would take a quick trip to MicroCenter and bug the salespeople to put one on display so we all can play with it. I wasn't able to pull it off, but if enough people.....

Do these have a working wireless card (not just in there for Windows) in them for Wardriving (securing networks)?  Right now I am using a bootable cd distro and a USB hard drive or memory stick for my transportation needs, but there are times a laptop would be nice.  That is the one application that I both would like to play with, and get tired of having to use a relatives laptop, when he screws up his network for.

As of today Sunday, 4 November 2007, Micro Center at 93rd and Metcalf had only 4 white Eee PC's in the 4 GB Solid State Storage, 512 MB Ram model in stock, none on display but the salesman opened one up out of stock to show me. He did not install the battery or let me power up the system, but it looks nice and is incredibly light. Available colors are White, Black, Silver, pastel pink, and pastel blue. I am going to hold out for the 8GB, 1GB Ram model, myself.
